What the hell happened to my Caterpie?

[At least he's straight to the point. Despite doing some research, this is his first pokémon to evolve and he isn't quite sure what to make of it or why it happened.]

You have what's known as a Metapod. That's the next stage in your Pokémon's evolution. Pokémon evolve once they reach a certain level and become stronger. [Yes, he's been reading up on his Pokedex.]

It evolved. In theory that makes them stronger, but I think a few of the Bug-types get less mobile in their second stage.

I was simply pointing out that it's interesting that the Pokémon would, in some way, mimic the biology of animals where I am from.

[He's going to assume the same holds true for this man as well, considering the mention of a butterfly coming next.]

And yet all of them hatch from eggs and spontaneously change form under varying circumstances.

It's a natural thing for most of the Pokemon here. At very least, you should be prepared for their next evolution in a couple of levels.

It reached level 7, you'll get a butterfly called Butterfree once it reaches level 10... or 11 if it plans to stay on that form all the way through tenth level.

It should be in the trainer's guide book, I think... Not that I ever needed to read Pokemon basics from it. But they all have levels indeed. Caterpillars evolve fast and types like dragons take almost forever to get to the next stage.

Damn. Now that the fun's spoiled...it'll soon become a butterfly. I think they have some crafty moves but are easy to bring down, especially with fire.
