[After yesterday's events and a night in intensive care along with his pokemon, Raikov's doing much better. If you were to walk past one of the piers, you'd find the Russian sitting on the edge, his knees pulled against his torso, staring silently at the Sharpedo he caught - and the Sharpedo staring back. This goes on for a few minutes before Raikov finally speaks.]
You almost killed me yesterday. You know that, right?
[Technically it was his Joltik that caused him to have to stay outside when she flew off his shoulder. If she hadn't, the giant shark wouldn't have slammed right into him. If he were the same man he was before Big Boss rescued him, he would have left her to fly away with the storm. But since his freedom and him coming here, Raikov found himself becoming sentimental towards people and things. Aside from himself, Katya was the second most important thing to him. She was more than just a pet. She was his partner. If he knew what the Joltik thought of him as, he might have even considered himself her "parent."
Thanks to the stress she endured, Katya was staying in her pokeball for the time being. Raikov figured it'd take her a bit to recover and this allowed him to deal with the Sharpedo on his own.]
I don't even understand how you were able to get picked up by the wind like that. I wasn't and I'm only a little heavier than you.
[The shark pokemon, obviously, says nothing and closes his eyes. Raikov furrows his brow, taking it as a "I don't care" gesture. What a pompous brat.You're one to talk, Raikov.]
Ugh. Well, the storm's over. You can go now. I only caught you because I couldn't move you off me and I wasn't about to let myself die in such an absurd way.
["Local man killed by flying shark! More on that story at 11." How the hell does that even happen?
Raikov grumbles at the thought as the Sharpedo debates on what to do for a moment. Finally, he begins to swim away, glancing back a couple times, and it isn't until he's almost on the horizon that he turns around and charges back towards Raikov. Upon realizing what the pokemon is doing and fear of him jumping out of the water and crushing him again, the Russian screams and scrambles out of the way. Much to his surprise and annoyance, the only thing that happens is a big splash of water that soaks him entirely. Raikov looks up through his wet hair plastered to his face and glares at the shark.]
What the hell was that for?! I told you you could leave!
[The Sharpedo utters a low rumble, looking content with himself. The sound reminds the Major of something he hasn't heard in years and his expression softens. From what little time they've been together, the pokemon's mannerisms, temperament, and even his scars seem very familiar to someone from long ago.
Letting out a sigh, Raikov sits down and drapes his legs over the edge of the pier, watching as the shark nudges his nose against him.]
So you're staying, huh? Oh, fine. I suppose you can come with me.
[If I were crazy, I'd say you were actually him reincarnated as a god damn shark. How ironic would that be? He hated water and it was partially responsible for his...
The Russian lets the thought trail off and gently nudges his snout with his foot to distract himself. The pokemon uttering another low, pleased sound and Raikov finds himself smiling.
Maybe... just... maybe... This place does seem to have a twisted sense of humor...]
Yevgeny... I'll call you Yevgeny.

[Raikov's managed to dry off by the time he decides to post on to the network. He's still sitting at the pier with his newest pokemon though.]
I take back what I said about my luck for good weather in my last post. That was the worst storm I've ever been in - and that's saying something considering the weather conditions in the Motherland. We usually only have rain and snow. Not flying sharks. I'd like to be able to say "now I've seen it all," but I know I've barely even scratched the surface with this place.
[He lets out an exaggerated sigh.]
Moving on though... I'm amazed at how quickly the Pokecenter work with healing humans. The technology they have here is amazing. Obviously far advanced than anything I've ever seen. If I had gotten hurt like this back home, I'd be in the hospital for a few weeks. I'm glad to know if I ever get seriously injured, the Pokecenter will have no problem in fixing me up.
[The Sharpedo props himself on to the pier and rests his massive head between his owner's legs. Raikov leans over, wrapping his arms around the shark's snout and lies his head against it. Yevgeny rumbles contently, causing Raikov to look rather relaxed despite everything.]
Mmn. At least one good thing came out of that bizarre storm. I finally got a water-type.

video;
Are you ok, Raikov? That storm was something wasn't it? Odd though to have come out of nowhere and damn dangerous. At least no one was seriously hurt. [He hoped.]
What water-type did you get?
video;
[Raikov raises an eyebrow, glancing down at the Sharpedo who returns the sarcastic expression. The Russian's gaze returns to his pokegear as he strokes Yevgeny's snout.]
Do you really need to ask?
no subject
Uh....a shark Pokémon? I wasn't meaning to sound stupid I just...like knowing what types people have. [He pushed his glasses up at his awkward mistake and then offered Sharpedo a nervous smile.] He's a big boy, isn't he? Or she?
no subject
[Yevgeny's not paying attention. Just sort of snoozing in Raikov's lap.]
He's a Sharpedo. And yes, he is a big boy.
[There's something devious about his smile as he says that. Add that with another pleased rumble from the shark and it's down right creepy. One shouldn't have that kind of air about them when talking about animals.]
no subject
Aw, come on, Piplup. He's not that scary you know. I bet you two could become good friends. [So he hoped. Otacon couldn't help notice the strange glint in Raikov's eye at the comment about being big.]
What's his name?
no subject
I'm not sure he's the friendly type. I haven't had him interact with any of my other pokemon yet.
[Raikov got the feeling he was going to be possessive like Katya was, especially if he was anything like his namesake.]
It's Yevgeny.
no subject
[Piplup just wants to prove how strong he is to you, Otacon.]
Yevgeny is a good Russian name. [It sounded like the name for a Russian Colonel or something.]
no subject
[He smiles at Otacon's compliment.]
It's a very good name.
no subject
Can I ask how you managed to catch Yevgeny during the storm?
no subject
...
[At that question, both Raikov and Yevgeny look a bit uneasy. Raikov because "the storm blew him right on top of me and I was going to die" and Yevgeny because "I almost crushed my trainer so he caught me."]
... He was washed up on the shore so I decided to save him.
no subject
That was a very brave thing of you to do, Raikov. I bet Yevgeny is pleased to have found a trainer like you. Was it gut instinct to save him whilst during the storm? Your survival instincts kicking in as a soldier? [Yeah, he thinks saving Pokémon is awesome because, well, it is.]
no subject
[Yeah, that works. Soldier instincts... He'll have to remember that one.]
no subject
[Because Otacon wants to know. He's curious like that. Piplup is now crossing his wings in front of his chest at Yevgeny. Oh, he's such a cocky little penguin.]
no subject
Ah, I think he knows a few dark moves and at least one ice move so far. I can't remember off the top of my head.
no subject
[Otacon thinks they're special anyway.]
Piplup might be able to learn ice moves once he levels up, since he's a water-type too. [He noticed the little penguin nodding and smiling.]

[He nearly got swept off his feet and dragged when he was helping a few people near the shoreline, but luckily his Feraligatr kept that from happening. Hurricanes, man. What the hell are they and why do they exist?]
video;
With Sharpedos apparently.
video;
B-But I ended up catching one of those. Or at least Annie did when it flew out of the sky at me. [He's pretty sure the thing likes her too, much to the poor 'gatr's chagrin.]
video;
It's odd that the Sharpedos were so easily blown away, given their size and weight.
Oh, but is, er, your pokemon alright? I'm assuming she was large enough to not get hurt from literally catching it, right?
Re: video;
Ah... We, uh, we never had an ocean around where I'm from. I don't know where the closest one was.
But yeah, she's okay. A little frazzled from it all but she's fine.
video;
But that's good at least. I can't imagine the amount of damage one of those could do to a human.
[The Sharpedo might be blushing and sulking at that bold faced lie. Raikov gently pats his head.]

[Video]
Is this going where I think it is? Because that's really pretty funny.
[She's actually giggling, in fact.]
[Video]
No. It's not. I found him washed up on shore shortly after the storm had passed and decided to rescue him.
[Video]
[She's pouting. Just a little bit.]
But I guess it was kind of you to help him out.
[Video]
[Yevgeny lets out a grumble. You don't need to make it sound like I was helpless if you're going to lie...
Raikov just pats him on the head.]
[Video]
He doesn't seem too happy right now, truth be told. Or is he just embarrassed?
[Video]
[Grruummblllee.]
Hush, Yevgeny.
no subject
[Smirk.]
Or adorable, for that matter.
[It's mostly the borderline cuddling they were doing in the post that makes her say that, but like she'd pass up a chance to tease a Sharpedo regardless.]
no subject
[He's still cuddling him too. Being the tsundere shark he is, Yevgeny pulls away and goes to frump out of Raikov's reach.]
Oh, come on now. It's not a bad thing.
no subject
Well isn't he a sensitive one? Not at all what you'd expect.
no subject
He acts just like his namesake.
no subject
[As all of Ilya's own Pokemon are named after mythological figures, she's a bit intrigued by someone who'd make enough of an impression to name one after.]
no subject
More than a friend. ... He was the most important person in my life.
no subject
The most important person, hmmm? Were you in looooooove?
[Far from shocked or appalled, she's downright teasing him about the idea, though admittedly she's only guessing and deliberately going for the possibility she thinks will embarrass him most.]
no subject
I was.
no subject
[She pauses a bit, considering that.]
Well I feel kind of silly now. But that's sweet.
no subject
Thank you. I think both Yevgenys would deny it being "sweet" though.
no subject
[It's hard to tell if she's being playful or just downright mean there.]
After all, what's the worst either of them can do? Grump at you?
no subject
Threaten me, try to act intimidating, get angry... I've dealt with it all before.
[He'd say "all bark and no bite" but he's well aware the Sharpedo could easily chomp off a limb.]
